— -- In the monumental Brexit referendum, 51.9 percent of United Kingdom voters chose to leave the European Union, and naturally, the Twittersphere is exploding in response. Brits and non-Brits alike have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions, both in celebration and outrage. And, of course, celebrities in the United Kingdom are among them. Here’s what some celebrities from across the pond had to say about this historic decision.

Ricky Gervais doesn’t seem too happy.

The good news is, since we just have referendums on complex political issues now, we don't need a prime minister any more. So, every cloud.

At last, we can now return to the good old days. Of isolation, rampant xenophobia & our poor dying young in terrible hospitals.

JK Rowling is yearning for real-life wizardry like in the fictional world she created.

Scotland will seek independence now. Cameron's legacy will be breaking up two unions. Neither needed to happen. https://t.co/4MDj7pndcq

I don't think I've ever wanted magic more. https://t.co/gVNQ0PYIMT

James Corden appears deeply distraught by the news.

I can't get my head around what's happening in Britain.I'm so sorry to the youth of Britain. I fear you've been let down today x

But Elizabeth Hurley has never slept better.

Hugh Laurie has requested a rematch.

Best of three?

And on this side of the pond, perhaps channeling her British "Parent Trap" counterpart Annie James, Lindsey Lohan went on a Twitter rant and weighed in on Instagram.

In response to Lohan, some UK voters might think of that well-known line from “Mean Girls:” She doesn’t even go here!
