Hollywood stars make the D-list for worst-dressed blunders.

May 5, 2008 — -- It's the time of year to bust out of drab winter duds and shed layers for bright spring frocks. Spring means it's also time for photographers to capture the celebs' fashion faux pas.

Just because the red-carpet season is over doesn't mean the designing drama is over. And ABCNEWS.com has gathered some of the best er, worst, fashion statements of the new season.

Trendsetters or tragic blunders? It's the latter with some of the garb worn by some of Hollywood's A-listers.

Mary-Kate Olsen made an unfortunate choice when heading out of the house in this unbelievable outfit. Accessories for the spring, like headbands, are pretty scarce this season, so please forgo the velvet halo.

Also, learn from Olsen's mistake and make sure your dresses are hemmed -- so you don't trip on the way to work.

With the alternating blue-and-white motif, the outfit screams "bubble" skirt. Lohan may have been in style in the spring, but she has yet to be this season. When choosing a dress, make sure to look for something age appropriate. Lohan may only be 21 years old, but this dress is fit for a tween.

Bright shoes may be in, but Bai Ling needs to take note: don't overdo it! And while trends like wide belts are great for this season, when you combine it with a micro-mini packed dress with far too many patterns, your friends and co-workers will need sunglasses just to manage the brightness.

But that doesn't mean that you have to look like Madonna on a recent trip to the gym. Ditch the black for some color. Shape magazine senior fitness editor Jeanine Detz explains to USA Today that skorts, dresses and yoga-inspired clothing are definitely "in" this season.

While Mariah Carey may be too busy with her new hit album, she hasn't noticed that spring isn't the time to be wearing black. Her stage wardrobe needs a makeover beyond the colors pink, lavender and black. Shed the tights -- and if you must wear black, add some colorful accessories. Bright, vibrant jewel tones are your best bet this season.

Try a bit of a tighter sleeve or get a long-sleeved shirt with a bit of a puffed shoulder. Remember to choose the one element you want to focus on -- either a scarf or a sleeve, but not both.

Gray may be a fashion "do" this season, but Uma Thurman may want to update her look. The oversize cardigan hardly shows off her slender torso and looks rather drab. Spice it up with color or make sure to show feminine lines. If you're still a little chilly, try a trench coat, one of this season's must-haves.

Skip the skin cancer risk and own your pale skin. And if you want a little color, use a body lotion with subtle tint. But please, take a hint from Stone and stay far away from tanning beds.

Me-ow. Heidi Montag debuted some of her new fashion duds this spring, but she must have missed the memo: Animal prints are out. Instead, tribal prints -- patterns in bold colors -- are the hip style this season. And the midriff? Throw on a fitted vest to cover up. It's not that hot in any urban jungle.

Paltrow recently revealed on "Good Morning America" that she saves all her clothes for her 4-year-old tot Apple.

"What if she grows up and likes dresses," she said, "and she sees an old picture of me and says, 'Why didn't you save that for me?'"

Apple better take note not to repeat this fashion don't.

Finally, make your fashion style your own. Since Paris Hilton began dating "Good Charlotte's" Benji Madden, she has adopted his rocker look. Relying on your significant other to define your style will only lead to heartache later on. Instead, choose outfits that compliment each other. Then you'll steal the runway show.
