Julia Talks Bratt Breakup
July 11 -- Appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman Tuesday night, a cornered Julia Roberts publicly addressed her still-fresh split from her boyfriend of nearly four years, Benjamin Bratt, saying it was a "tenderhearted end."
Host David Letterman politely refrained from asking Roberts about her breakup with the former Law & Order hunk, but his bandleader, Paul Shaffer, wasn't shy about inquiring into her personal affairs.
"You getting laid these days?" Shaffer queried the pretty woman when she walked out on stage, according to People.
Julia wagged a finger at Shaffer and said, "Bad, bad Paul," but she didn't shy away from the subject when Letterman brought up Bratt's name.
"It's come to a kind and tenderhearted end. My only regret is that the media can't accept that it's tenderhearted and kind," said the 33-year-old actress of the split, which has been spun in the media as a result of her refusal to settle down.
She also took the opportunity to dismiss rumors that she's been seeing her Ocean's Eleven co-star George Clooney and called Bratt "a good man" and "a fine man."
"He is, to the exultation of the female single population, not my man anymore," she said, adding that they both have simply gone "separate ways." Ending the evening's interrogation, she summed up, no doubt to the exultation of the male single population, "And to answer Paul: No."
