Report: Nanny Left Tommy Lee Party Early
June 20 -- The 4-year-old boy who drowned at a kids' pool party thrown by rocker Tommy Lee at his home in Malibu, Calif., on Saturday was reportedly left unwatched by a nanny who had left the premises.
Sources tell New York Daily News columnist Mitchell Fink that the nanny of Daniel Karven Veres asked a preschool teacher who attended the party to watch the child so he could leave to attend a Wango Tango concert at nearby Dodger Stadium.
A distraught Tommy Lee phoned 911 soon after the boy was found to be unconscious.
Daniel was wearing water wings earlier in the day to help him stay afloat in the pool, but after the accident he did not have any flotation device on, the sources add. He had apparently been swimming in the shallow end of the pool with a group of other children when he was found floating face down.
An autopsy was performed after the child's death, which was ruled an accident on Sunday, police said.
Investigation Continues
Lee is "devastated" by Veres' death, his representative tells the News, and has "no further comment" on the issue.
A friend of Lee's who was at the party tells the paper that "this was not a wild party. This was a kids' party."
Lee has two sons, Brandon, 5, and Dylan, 3 ½, with ex-wife Pamela Anderson.
The parents of the drowned boy have turned the matter over to their attorneys. An investigation of the incident by the Malibu Police Department is ongoing.
