May 22 -- Christina Aguilera sued two music companies, her old producers, and several others Friday, in an attempt to stop the commercial release of demo recordings made prior to her deal with RCA Records.

In the suit, filed in Los Angeles, the 20-year-old superstar alleges that her former producers made a deal to package and sell recordings she made at age 14 solely for the purpose of landing a record contract. The suit also singles out Warlock Records, and its affiliates Platinum Recordings and JFB Music, saying the music companies which plan to release the 13-track album Just Be Free on June 19 appropriated her name, likeness, and photograph for advertising purposes without her consent.

According to Aguilera's suit, distributors have already begun accepting thousands of orders for the title at 10 dollars apiece. Amazon.com currently lists the album as "New & Coming Soon," with a release date of June 19 and a price tag of $14.99.

Meanwhile, a single of "Just Be Free," featuring four mixes of the song, is already in stores overseas. "'Just Be Free' was recorded prior to Christina's record deal with RCA," says a notice at the singer's official Web site, www.christina-a.com. "At present there is no authorized release of 'Just Be Free.'

"Please note that Christina has not authorized or approved the release of 'Just Be Free' that has been made available for sale overseas. In fact, it is Christina's understanding that authorities have stopped the sale of 'Just Be Free.' Check back on this site as to if and when, if ever, there is an authorized version of 'Just Be Free.' But again, there is no intention to release or promote the song at this time."

Aguilera's lawsuit was filed in retaliation to one filed against her on May 15 in New York City by Platinum Recording Group and JFB Music, which claim they own the rights to the recordings and should be allowed to release them without interference from the pop star.

Aguilera's next official album is tentatively scheduled for a fall release on RCA.
