TV Notes: Berle Laughs at Pain

April 25 -- TV pioneer Milton Berle is suffering from a colon tumor, but he hasn't lost his sense of humor.

According to Daily Variety's Army Archerd, the 92-year-old comic legend has no plans to undergo surgery.

"He's in no pain and he is living his life with incredible spirits," Berle's wife Lorna says.

Uncle Miltie's legs are a bit weak these days, forcing him to rely on a wheelchair. But Lorna says he "gets a kick out of sailing into restaurants in it."

CNN Turns NYPD Blue

Actress Andrea Thompson, who left her job at NYPD Blue in 1999 to become a TV news reporter, has joined CNN Headline News.

Thompson portrayed Detective Jill Kirkendall on the cop drama before taking a correspondent job for a New Mexico TV station. Thompson says she gave up acting because she wanted a career that allowed her more time to study economics and more time to be with her child.
