Diana Biographer Turns to Madonna
April 12 -- If Madonna still has any secrets after Truth or Dare and Sex, biographer Andrew Morton aims to bring them to light in an upcoming unauthorized biography on the pop singer.
And apparently there is plenty the Material Mom would prefer to keep out of plain view — according to the New York Post, she has forbidden her friends and associates from speaking with Morton.
The paper adds that the controversial author has been pounding the pavement in the neighborhood in Queens where Madonna first lived when she arrived in New York — and he's "stunned" by the number of people ready to dish on the singer.
Publisher Michael O'Mara said the author had already spoken to "those in her inner circle, who have never been interviewed before, about her ambitions, lifestyle, and relationships."
Morton, who's aiming for a November release, also penned a controversial 1992 biography of Princess Diana, Diana: Her True Story, as well as works about famed White House intern Monica Lewinsky and about Posh Spice, a k a Victoria Beckham, and her soccer star husband, David.
"As one of the most enigmatic and fascinating women of our time, Madonna is the undisputed female icon of the modern age," O'Mara added, when he announced the book plans today.
The book follows a triumphant year for the singer, which saw the release of a top-selling album and single, the birth of her second child, a marriage to film director Guy Ritchie, and a movie — OK, The Next Best Thing wasn't such a success.
The singer is currently putting together her first major tour in years, to support her album Music, and has already reportedly lined up a string of dates in London.
