Puffy Combs Trial Timeline
N E W Y O R K, March 15 -- Below is a chronology of the criminal case against hip-hop mogul Sean "Puffy Combs, his rap protégé Jamal "Shyne" Barrow and bodyguard Anthony "Wolf" Jones. Charges stem from a December 1999 shooting at Manhattan's Club New York that left three people injured.
Dec. 26, 1999: Rap impresario Sean "Puffy" Combs andthen-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez drive from East Hampton, N.Y., toManhattan for a night of clubbing.
Dec. 27: Following a 2:30 a.m. Manhattan nightclub shooting,Combs, Lopez and bodyguard Anthony "Wolf" Jones are arrestedafter a gun is recovered from their sports utility vehicle. Combs'protégé Jamaal "Shyne" Barrow is arrested for attempted murder.Lopez is later released with no charges.
Dec. 28: Combs holds a news conference to declare, "I do notown a gun nor did I have possession of a gun that night."
Dec. 30: Club shooting victim Julius Jones files a $100million lawsuit against Combs and others.
Jan. 4, 2000: Combs declares his innocence after testifyingbefore grand jury.
Jan. 5: Barrow indicted for attempted murder, assault,reckless endangerment and weapons possession.
Jan. 7: Club shooting victim Robert Thompson sues Combs andothers for $50 million.
Jan. 13: Combs and Jones indicted on weapons possessioncharges.
Feb. 23: On the day of the Grammy Awards, Combs and Jonesindicted on bribery charge.
Oct. 4: Combs' driver on the night of his arrest, WardelFenderson, sues the rapper for $3 million.
Oct. 11: The owner of the Club New York, where the shootingoccurred, sues Combs for $1.8 million.

Jan. 17, 2001: Jury selection begins in the weapons possessiontrial.
