February 5 -- Jesse Arreola, drummer for Tejano band Los Palominos, was killed early Sunday morning when he was run over by the band's tour bus.

The bus was traveling from a Saturday night show in Port Lavaca, Texas, when it ran a stop sign, according to The Associated Press. Arreola, 31, was thrown from the bus and run over. Other riders on the bus including his brothers and bandmates James, Johnny, and George Arreola suffered minor injuries.

Band producer Armando Lichtenberger Jr. told the news service that Arreloa had recently overcome a battle with leukemia.

"He had an extreme passion for music; music was his everything," he said. "In public he was very quiet; behind closed doors, he was pretty much the life of the party."

The four brothers began performing together in 1984, using the name Los Tremendos. They changed their name to Los Palominos in 1995, and last year their song "Por Eso Te Amo" won a Grammy for Best Tejano Performance.

Their album of the same name won Comeback Album of the Year at last year's 20th annual Tejano Music Awards.
