David Gray Announces Biggest U.S. Tour
January 30 -- Singer-songwriter David Gray will climb the White Ladder once more — this time supporting that album with his biggest North American tour ever.
Originally released in late 1998 overseas, and March 2000 domestically, the album has slowly picked up steam, recently reaching as high as No. 35 the Billboard albums chart and receiving platinum certification for shipping more than a million copies.
While he said he's anxious to develop new material, Gray recently told Wall of Sound, "We're obviously going everywhere and doing everything in order to maximize the trajectory of our record. So I haven't really had a moment to sit down and distill my thoughts and feelings into the next album."
The tour, his fourth in North America, kicks off April 12 in Minneapolis. The first branch of the tour focuses on the Midwest and East Coast, and after early May performances in New York and Philadelphia, he'll hit the South and West Coast.
The dates will follow the release of a second single from White Ladder — "Please Forgive Me" — as well as the Stateside release of an older album, Lost Songs 95-98, a collection of 11 acoustic numbers.
