ICP Offers Two for the Juggalos

November 27 -- The Insane Clown Posse may rank as one of the — if not the — most critically loathed band in America. But the rap duo knows who loves it and made its latest batch of music — separate albums titled Bizaar and Bizzar — strictly for its loyal core of fans, known as the "Juggalos."

"We stopped trying to reach the mainstream audience," says the group's Violent J, a k a Joe Bruce. "Instead of trying to convince everybody out there to listen to our [music] and having a lot of pressure, like, 'Let's get this one on radio but keep it ICP at the same time,' this one's just for the Juggalos out there. So we went in to record just knowing that this was our own little world we were doing it for. We said, 'Let's make a double album, pack it full of the s--t everybody loves us for, s--t all the Juggalos like. Let's give them that in fat doses. That's what we did."

That said, ICP's last two releases — The Great Milenko, which got the group booted off Disney's Hollywood Records label, and The Amazing Jeckel Brothers — went platinum, and ICP's grass-roots drawing power was strong enough to get the duo booked on last year's Woodstock festival. The Juggalos have come out in full force for Bizaar and Bizzar, too, which are lavishly packaged with photos, games, and oversized graphics. But J and his partner, Shaggy 2 Dope, say they're not expecting to be embraced by those who have shunned them in the past.

"I have no question we will once again reign supreme by making all the critics' worst-album lists of 2000," says J, who sings a remake of Sly Fox's 1986 pop hit, "Let's Go All the Way," on Bizzar. "But you know what — f--k them. This isn't for them."
