Scary Spice Custody Battle Ends
October 20 -- Spice Girl Mel B ended the custody battle with her estranged husband over their daughter today. The couple, who are set to divorce in November, said through lawyers that they had "settled their differences" during a three-day private hearing.
Details of the settlement were kept under wraps, though Mel B, a k a Scary Spice, and Dutch dancer Jimmy Gulzar had originally agreed on Gulzar seeing 20-month-old Phoenix Chi every other weekend. Gulzar's lawyers also asked the court to grant him access to his daughter every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and at all times when the pop star is on tour; the court's decision over those matters was kept private.
Gulzar told the Sun tabloid last month that the marriage broke down because she had cosmetic surgery that stopped her breast-feeding the baby, while also suggesting that she had been unfaithful.
Mel B recently released her first solo album, Hot, in the United Kingdom, where it debuted with less-than-impressive sales and reviews. Forever, the Spice Girls' third album, is due for worldwide release on Nov. 7.
