Dolly Parton's final vocal recording to appear on U2's new album 'Carnaval de Luz'
Dolly Parton's last recording of her career will appear on U2's new album.
In an interview with Rolling Stone published Thursday, Bono revealed that the legendary country singer recorded a duet with him on U2's new album, "Carnaval de Luz."
The duet called "Torn," is the album's closing track and Parton shares writing credits for the song with U2 and Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid.
"She sang her heart out," Bono told Rolling Stone. "And I cannot believe that's an 80-year-old woman."
In the interview, Bono said that the song was recorded in June, adding that after she got ill, she "got out of her bed to sing this song."
"And you can hear that," he added. "And I can't even listen to it now."
The artist said that he first approached Parton as a collaborator on what is described as an unreleased side project inspired by Irish folk music, but Parton told him that it was a "little too Irish for me."
Instead, she introduced "Torn" to Bono, who worked with McDaid to write the lyrics, according to Rolling Stone. The album's producer Garret "Jacknife" Lee said that Parton approved the final mix and was "proud of her vocal and recording."
"Carnaval De Luz" will be released on Nov. 13, 2026. It is the 16th studio album from U2 and the first album of new material from the band in nine years, according to a press release.
