Jimmy Kimmel is remembering his longtime friend and costume designer Rodney Muñoz, who has died at age 60.

The late-night host announced Muñoz's death in an emotional Instagram tribute on Friday, honoring the Emmy-winning designer who worked alongside him for nearly three decades.

"Our dear friend and Costume Designer for almost 30 years, Rodney Muñoz, has sadly passed away," Kimmel wrote.

A cause of death was not disclosed.

Kimmel described Muñoz as "one of the most talented people I've had the pleasure of knowing," remembering both his creativity and the kindness he showed those around him.

"He was a funny, surly, hard-working man whose tough exterior hid a huge and generous heart," Kimmel wrote, adding that Muñoz had supported many of his colleagues through challenging moments.

According to the Television Academy, Muñoz earned an Emmy in 2010 for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety, Music Program or a Special.

His television career also included costume design work on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and the reality competition series "Fear Factor." He also appeared alongside Kimmel at the 2018 Academy Awards.

Kimmel ended his tribute with a personal farewell, writing, "We will miss Rodney as he joins his beloved parents in whatever comes next."
