See Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler in 1st look at 'Miami Vice '85'
Universal Pictures has revealed a first look at the upcoming "Miami Vice '85" film, a reboot of the popular 1980s TV drama, "Miami Vice."
The film studio released photos on social media of Michael B. Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as Sonny Crockett, the undercover Miami detectives portrayed by Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson four decades ago.

According to Universal Pictures, "Miami Vice '85" has begun production in IMAX and will be inspired by the pilot and first season of "Miami Vice," which shifted pop culture and influenced 1980s style trends.
"F1" and "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski will direct the new movie that "explores the glamour and corruption of mid-80’s Miami." It's written by Dan Gilroy, who previously penned 2014's "Nightcrawler" and "Kong: Skull Island," in addition to episodes of Star Wars TV show "Andor."

"Miami Vice '85" is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 19, 2028.
The show ran for five seasons, from 1984 to 1989, and was known for its innovative use of contemporary pop music -- particularly Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" -- influence on men's fashion and putting its stars in cool cars.
It'll be the second movie inspired by the show -- director Michael Mann's "Miami Vice" came out in 2006. That version starred Jamie Foxx as Tubbs and Colin Farrell as Crockett.
