Sabrina Carpenter had one of the biggest moments of Coachella’s second weekend when she brought out Madonna as a surprise guest during her Friday night set.

The appearance came toward the end of Carpenter’s performance. While singing “Juno,” a spot in her show where she often brings a celebrity onstage, the moment took an unexpected turn as Madonna rose up from the middle of the stage.

The two went straight into “Vogue,” before sharing the stage for what appeared to be a brand-new duet.

Madonna paused to speak to the crowd, reflecting on her history with the festival and pointing out that her return comes 20 years after her first Coachella performance.

The set continued with a joint performance of “Like a Prayer,” with dancers in religious-inspired costumes moving across the stage behind them.

Before launching into the song, Madonna spoke about music as a way to bring people together, telling the audience it’s one of the few places where people can put differences aside and share the same experience.
