Sept. 24, 2005 — -- The Red Cross received $854 million in donations for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. But none of that money will go to help those affected by Hurricane Rita.
If you want your donation to help victims of Rita or Rita and Katrina, then mention both of them. Or, simply make your donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and they will apply it to where it is needed most, she said.
"We respond to 700-plus diasters a years, so this is something that will go to people at a point of need."
