Family Responds to Martha Beck's Appearance

March 16, 2005 -- -- We, Martha Beck's mother and seven siblings, were surprised and disappointed by Martha's statements and allegations on "Good Morning America," March 7, 2005.

Especially alarming was Martha's account that we initially supported her allegations of sexual molestation, but threatened to discredit her if she told anyone outside of the family. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are united in our belief that the repeated abuse alleged in the book could not have taken place without any of us knowing. Furthermore, none of us would ever cover up such a serious crime.
