Iran live updates: Iran claims US strike hit a wedding ceremony, US 'looking into' claims

The strikes follow attacks against commercial shipping and service members.

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Delegations from the U.S. and Iran entered negotiations in June aimed at a war-ending deal based on a memorandum of understanding signed by both countries.

The U.S. and Iran have nonetheless continued to exchange strikes, with the strategic Strait of Hormuz as the primary flashpoint.

US completes strikes on Iran

CENTCOM announced in an X post that it completed its latest strikes on Iran.

The military hit several targets including "air defense sites, radar systems, maritime assets and facilities, mine laying capabilities, and communications sites," according to CENTCOM.

Kuwait issues alerts over missiles

The Kuwait Army issued an alert that its air defenses are "confronting hostile missile and drone attacks."

"The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks," the Kuwait Army said.

US, Jordan intercept missiles

Over a dozen ballistic missiles were fired at Jordan were but all were intercepted or fell in remote areas Tuesday, Jordanian officials said.

Separately, a U.S. official told ABC News that U.S. forces shot down Iranian missiles, but didn't give more specifics.

Jordanian Armed Forces said that it intercepted 10 missiles and three fell "in remote areas far from population centers."

There were no injuries or deaths reported by Jordanian officials.

Iran claims it is striking back

Iranian state media said Iran is now striking back after the U.S. launched strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets on Tuesday.

Iranian state media Tasnim news claimed an American MQ9 drone was shot down by a new Iranian air defense system in the Khomein area.
