Ongoing diplomacy centered on Pakistan is yet to achieve a breakthrough.

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, initial U.S.-Iran talks in Pakistan earlier this month failed to reach a peace deal. On Tuesday, Trump announced he was extending the ceasefire and continuing the blockade until Iran's proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded "one way or the other."

Iranian state media reported Saturday night that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was returning to Islamabad, Pakistan, from Muscat, Oman following meetings in Pakistan earlier on Saturday.

Netanyahu orders IDF to 'vigorously attack' Hezbollah in Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the Israel Defense Forces to "vigorously attack Hezbollah targets in Lebanon," according to a statement published by the prime minister's office announced on Saturday evening.

The order came amid a fragile temporary ceasefire between the two sides that has been in place since April 16. Israeli and Hezbollah attacks have continued despite the ceasefire, which President Donald Trump said on Thursday had been extended by three additional weeks.

Trump says Iran sent new peace offer

President Donald Trump claimed that about ten minutes after he announced the cancellation of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s trip to Pakistan for diplomatic talks on Saturday morning, Iran sent over a fresh peace offer that was “much better” than what they would have gone into the meeting working with.

When asked by reporters what changed since Friday, the president responded, “Nothing."

"It's just that they gave us a paper that should have been better. And interestingly, immediately, when I canceled it, within ten minutes, we got a new paper that was much better,” Trump added.

The president suggested that the U.S. communicated again with Iran his red line that the regime could not have any nuclear weapons.

Trump cancels Witkoff, Kushner’s trip to Islamabad for peace talks

President Donald Trump has canceled the trip by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Islamabad for another round of peace talks due to Iran’s posture during the negotiations, the president said in a social media post Saturday.

"Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work! Besides which, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their 'leadership.' Nobody knows who is in charge, including them. Also, we have all the cards, they have none!" he said.

With the Iranian Foreign Minister having left Pakistan ahead of Witkoff and Kushner's arrival, Trump said that if Iran wants to negotiate, "all they have to do is call."

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Friday that it was the Iranians who requested these rounds of negotiations despite claims from the regime that they had no plans to speak trilaterally.
