President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting military, government and infrastructure sites.

Delegations from the U.S. and Iran entered negotiations last month aimed at a war-ending deal based on a memorandum of understanding signed by both countries.

The U.S. and Iran have nonetheless continued to exchange relatively limited strikes despite the signing of the memorandum and amid the continuation of peace talks.

Trump says no plans for ground troops to take nuclear material in Iran

President Donald Trump told reporters that the U.S. already has Iran’s nuclear material, claiming it's now buried so far underground beneath rubble that only the U.S. could remove it.

Pressed further on if this meant he had no plans to use American troops on the ground to take the material, he said, “Why would I go in now?”

"We've already got the nuclear matter because it's so far underground. Nobody's going to be able to get it except us, because we have the equipment that you can get it. But the -- I call it the nuclear dust -- nuclear material is so far down underneath a mountain, and now that's been determined, that it would take massive machinery that we have that no other country has," Trump said.

"I’d go in when they're completely either eliminated or whatever happens or an agreement is made," Trump said.

41 crossings reported in Strait of Hormuz on July 7, Kpler says

Maritime intelligence firm Kpler said there were 41 crossings in the strait of Hormuz on July 7, up from 36 on July 6.

"Use of the Iranian route declined as IMO routing recovered, but elevated Dark or Unknown movements highlighted uneven confidence across the market," Kpler said.

Kpler warned, however, that the situation around the strait remains complex and "the focus is now shifting from traffic recovery towards security, compliance and route risk management."

Trump says he may impose blockade on Iranian ships in strait

President Donald Trump said he may reimpose a blockade on Iranian ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

"We may put it back -- the blockade -- and it will only be a blockade for Iran. Anybody else can have whatever they want. Of course, they'll drop some mines if they can if they can do it, but it's hard because we're taking out those little boats now," Trump said.

Trump says there may be 'big attack'

President Donald Trump said the U.S. "may" attack Iran again after launching strikes overnight into Wednesday.

"There may be a big attack and it will knock out a lot of stuff," Trump said.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told reporters the U.S. targeted a "small craft that they were trying to harass shipping with," in addition to "underground facilities where they were storing drones or missiles, coastal defense sites, radar sites, surveillance sites, anything used for harassing shipping in the Strait of Hormuz."
