Three of United Nations peacekeepers were wounded by an explosion of unknown origin inside their position near the southern town of El Adeisse, Lebanon, amid ongoing fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, a spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon said in a statement Friday.
Two of the three had serious injuries and all were evacuated to a hospital, according to the statement.
"This has been a difficult week for peacekeepers working near the central part of UNIFIL's area of operations," Kandice Ardiel, a spokesperson, said in the statement. "We send the strongest wishes for a full and fast recovery for all of the injured."
Earlier this week, three UNIFIL peacekeepers from Indonesia were killed and others were injured in two incidents in southern Lebanon, according to earlier statements from UNIFIL.
