President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes attack targeting military and government sites, officials said.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was among those killed in Tehran on the first day of strikes, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei later chosen to succeed him. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, regional U.S. bases and multiple Gulf nations. Iran is also attempting to block some shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
Israel is also intensifying its long-running strike campaign against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and expanding its ground operations in the south of the country.

Air defenses in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates continued to engage and intercepted dozens of projectiles from Iran, authorities said Tuesday.
The Ministry of Defense of the UAE said 17 drones and five ballistic missiles launched by Iran were engaged on Tuesday.
In Bahrain, 19 more drones and six more missiles were intercepted, the country's defense force said in a post on social media.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a situational assessment Tuesday that the Israeli military will destroy homes in southern Lebanon just as it did in the war-torn Gaza Strip, in a continued effort to eliminate Hezbollah militants from the area.
Israel will implement "the Rafah and Beit Hanoun models," Katz said, referring to two Gaza border towns that Israel destroyed in its offensive in the Palestinian territory. Katz said Israeli forces are not just destroying Hezbollah infrastructure but also houses in Lebanese villages near the Israeli border that he claims "serve as terrorist outposts for all intents and purposes."
Katz also said that "all bridges over the Litani" river in southern Lebanon allegedly used by Hezbollah to transport militants and weapons "have been blown up." The Israeli military has issued forced evacuations for all residents south of the river in recent weeks.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday announced it had pulled the accreditation for Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mohammad Reza Sheibani and demanded that he depart by Sunday. Sheibani was also declared persona non grata.
Lebanon ordered its own ambassador to Iran to return home for consultations over what the ministry called "Tehran's violation of diplomatic norms and established protocols between the two countries."

The United Arab Emirates' Defense Ministry said in a post to X that its forces intercepted another five ballistic missiles and 17 drones launched from Iran on Tuesday.
The UAE has intercepted 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,806 drones since the start of the conflict, the ministry said.
