Pakistan announces US-Iran talks 'in coming days'

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar made the announcement on Sunday.

President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes attack targeting military and government sites, officials said.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was among those killed in Tehran on the first day of strikes, with his son Mojtaba Khamenei later chosen to succeed him. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, regional U.S. bases and multiple Gulf nations. Iran is also attempting to block some shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel is also intensifying its long-running strike campaign against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and expanding its ground operations in the south of the country.

Pakistan facilitating 'indirect' US-Iran talks, minister says

Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a post to X on Thursday that Islamabad is facilitating "U.S.-Iran indirect talks" by carrying messages between the warring nations.

Dar confirmed that the U.S. sent a 15-point proposal to Iran, which he said is "being deliberated" by Tehran.

Turkey, Egypt and other unnamed nations "are also extending their support to this initiative," Dar wrote.

Trump warns Iran to 'get serious' in peace talks

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned Iran to "get serious" about talks to end the war, writing on social media that Iranian negotiators were "very different" and 'strange.'"

Trump claimed Iran is "'begging'" the U.S. to make a deal, "yet they publicly state that they are only "looking at our proposal."

"WRONG!!! They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won't be pretty!," Trump added.

Trump says US 'needs nothing from NATO'

President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Thursday morning that the U.S. "needs nothing from NATO," claiming that allies "have done absolutely nothing to help" with the war in Iran.

IDF targets head of IRGC Navy amid Strait of Hormuz disruption

An Israeli military official told ABC News on Thursday that the Israel Defense Forces conducted a strike targeting the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, Alireza Tangsiri.

“We are studying the results,” the official said.

The IDF did not immediately say whether Tangsiri had been killed.

But Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a statement that the IDF "thwarted" Tangsiri. "The man who was directly responsible for the terrorist act of bombing and blocking the Strait of Hormuz for shipping -- was blown up and foiled," Katz said.
