Smoke plumes seen after Iran hits industrial site in southern Israel
Following a reported Iranian missile strike on a local industrial council in southern Israel on Sunday, fire and smoke were seen in the area as Israel’s fire and rescue teams continued efforts to contain the blaze.
"Firefighters are working to contain the spread of the fire and cool tanks in the incident at the Ramat Hovav Council," a spokesperson for Israel's Fire and Rescue Services said in a statement.
"Due to the nature of the event and the presence of hazardous materials, the public is asked not to approach the area," the statement further said, adding that those in the vicinity should take shelter in protected buildings.
According to initial reports from Israel's national emergency medical services, there have been no confirmed casualties from the Iranian strike. However, teams were dispatched to treat several individuals who were injured while heading to protected areas, as well as others suffering from anxiety, according to the reports.
