Iran live updates: Trump says no deadline for Iran to make a deal

President Donald Trump said in a post to social media on Wednesday that the U.S. could resume attacks on Iran if Tehran fails to agree to a deal to end the war.

"Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran," Trump wrote.

"If they don't agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before," the president added.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy on Wednesday issued a statement thanking captains and owners of ships in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman "for their cooperation in transiting through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with Iranian regulations" and for their participation in "regional maritime security."

With President Donald Trump on Tuesday announcing a pause to his "Project Freedom" mission to "guide" stranded ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC Navy said that "new procedures" would allow "the possibility of safe and sustainable passage through the Strait."

The Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday that it was striking alleged Hezbollah infrastructure in parts of southern Lebanon.

Earlier on Wednesday, the IDF said Hezbollah launched explosive drones and rockets at soldiers deployed in southern Lebanon. Two soldiers were injured when two drones detonated near their position, the IDF said.

A ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel has been in place since mid-April but Israeli strikes against Hezbollah have continued. Hezbollah has continued to launch projectiles and target Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday posted a statement to X thanking President Donald Trump for pausing the "Project Freedom" mission in the Strait of Hormuz, praising Trump "for his courageous leadership and timely announcement."

The decision, which Sharif said was made in response to requests from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and "other brotherly countries," will "go a long way towards advancing regional peace, stability and reconciliation during this sensitive period," the prime minister wrote.

"Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting all efforts that promote restraint and a peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy," Sharif added. "We are very hopeful that the current momentum will lead to a lasting agreement that secures durable peace and stability for the region and beyond."
