President Donald Trump announced "major combat operations" against Iran on Feb. 28, with massive joint U.S.-Israel strikes attack targeting military and government sites, officials said.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was among those killed in Tehran on the first day of strikes and his son Mojtaba Khamenei was chosen to succeed him. Iran is responding with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, regional U.S. bases and multiple Gulf nations. Iran is also attempting to block some shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel is also intensifying its long-running strike campaign against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

3 killed in West Bank by falling missile shrapnel: PRCS

At least three people were killed and another 13 injured by falling missile shrapnel in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Interior said the casualties occurred in the town of Beit Awwa "following the impact of an interceptor missile."

These mark the first reported fatalities in the West Bank since the Iran war began, according to The Associated Press.

Dignified transfer held for 6 airmen killed in crash

The six service members killed when their KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq last week were transferred back to the U.S. at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Wednesday, the White House said.

The Air Force airmen were identified by the Pentagon over the weekend as Maj. John A. Klinner, 33, of Auburn, Alabama; Capt. Ariana G. Savino, 31, of Covington, Washington; Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, 34, of Bardstown, Kentucky; Capt. Seth R. Koval, 38, of Mooresville, Indiana; Capt. Curtis J. Angst, 30, of Wilmington, Ohio; and Tech. Sgt. Tyler H. Simmons, 28, of Columbus, Ohio.

Qatar orders Iranian Embassy officials out of the country

Qatar has ordered Iranian Embassy officials to leave the country within 24 hours due to Iran's repeated targeting of its territory, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

"The Ministry clarified that this decision comes in the wake of repeated Iranian targeting and treacherous aggression that targeted the State of Qatar, violated its sovereignty and security, in flagrant violation of the principles of international law, UN Security Council Resolution No. (2817), and the rules of good neighborliness," the Qatari Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The Ministry emphasized that the continuation of the Iranian side in this hostile approach will be met with the State of Qatar taking additional measures to ensure the protection of its sovereignty, security, and national interests," the ministry said.

Israel says its striking northern Iran

Israel began striking "northern Iran" for the first time since the war started, the Israel Defense Forces said Wednesday.

"A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force, acting on navy and IDF intelligence, began striking targets in northern Iran for the first time during Operation Roaring Lion," the IDF said in a statement.
