As the Israel-Hamas war continues, the latest round of cease-fire discussions continues in the Middle East, even with Hamas rejecting the latest iteration over the weekend.
The United States and its allies continue to plead for a cease-fire deal.
President Biden spoke with Hersh Goldberg-Polin's parents, Rachel Goldberg and Jon Polin, this morning to "offer his condolences for the death of their son at the hands of Hamas," according to a White House official.

Forensic examinations on the bodies of six Israeli hostages recovered on Saturday determined they were all killed "in a number of short-range shots," the Israeli Health Ministry said on Sunday.
It was estimated that the hostages were killed sometime between Thursday and Friday, or 48 to 72 hours before the forensic exams were performed, according to the Ministry of Health.
"Early in the morning, the bodies of the abductees arrived at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the cause of death," the Ministry of Health said in a statement. "In an examination conducted at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, it was found that the six abductees were murdered by Hamas terrorists in a number of short-range shots."

Israel's national trade union, representing the majority of the country's unionized workers, announced it will hold a one-day general strike on Monday in an attempt to pressure the Israeli government to agree to a cease-fire and hostage deal.
Members of the Histadrut labor federation plan to walk off jobs across the nation at 6 a.m. local time Monday, said union chief Arnon Bar-David.
The union, comprised of 800,000 members, said the "Israeli economy will stop" during the strike.
Bar-David said the strike will prompt Israel's international airport to suspend operations at 8 a.m. Monday, including all takeoffs and landings.
"I will not tolerate abandonment [of hostages]," Bar-David said at a news conference on Sunday.
The Histadrut union is affiliated with dozens of sub-unions, including civil service, nurses, engineers, lawyers and industrial workers, officials said.

The funeral of killed American Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin will take place on Monday at 4 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET) at the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem, his family has announced.
The funeral announcement described Goldberg-Polin as "a child of light, love and peace."
The 23-year-old was among the six hostages found dead inside a tunnel under the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday. The IDF said the captives had been killed by militants shortly before their recovery. Hamas has blamed Israeli bombing for their deaths.
