House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries argued that today's election results were a rejection of "corruption" and "extremism," as Democrats are projected to take control of the House and put him on track to make history as the first Black speaker of the chamber.
"The American people have spoken and made clear they've had enough of the extremism, enough of the corruption. They want a Congress that's going to deliver for the American people, and that is exactly what House Democrats will do as soon as we get into office in January," he said while delivering remarks in D.C.
As House Democrats prepare to launch multiple investigations into the administration, Jeffries also promised more accountability.
"We're going to bring accountability to those who have visited unprecedented corruption on this country, because if you have people in high office who are so focused on enriching themselves, their family members, their friends, or their donors, then they're not focused on making life better for the American people. But House Democrats will put the American people first," he said.
