Midterm election results updates: Dems keep control of Senate with Nevada win

Republican Adam Laxalt took to Twitter on Saturday to address the current razor-thin Senate battle between him and Democrat incumbent Catherine Cortez Masto. The Senate race could determine if Democrats retain control. If Laxalt wins, the battle for the chamber will extend into December's runoff race in Georgia.

"Here is where we are -- we are up only 862 votes. Multiple days in a row, the mostly mail in ballots counted continue to break in higher DEM margins than we calculated. This has narrowed our victory window. The race will come down to 20-30K Election Day Clark drop off ballots," Laxalt wrote.

"If they are GOP precincts or slightly DEM leaning then we can still win. If they continue to trend heavy DEM then she will overtake us. Thanks for all the prayers from millions of Nevadans and Americans who hope we can still take back the Senate and start taking our country back."

Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., said Saturday he’s “honored” to have been reelected to serve six more years.

“It's fantastic to be here today. And after more votes have been counted, you know, it's clear that we've been successful in this mission,” Kelly said as he delivered victory remarks in front of supporters and press outside a coffee shop in central Phoenix and with his wife, Gabby Giffords.

After thanking his staff and supporters, Kelly also thanked Arizona's election workers, just hours ahead of a protest planned outside the main tabulation center in Maricopa County.

Kelly’s Republican opponent, Blake Masters, meanwhile, has not conceded -- but said Saturday that he will concede if Kelly is ahead when all the votes are counted. The deadline to cure signatures in Arizona is Wednesday.

As of early Saturday morning, Republicans have won 211 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives while Democrats have won 205.

Republicans flipped a total of 16 House seats so far, according to ABC News projections, while Democrats flipped five House seats.

Nineteen House races remain outstanding. Of those, Republicans lead in 10 of them and Democrats are ahead in nine of them. Republicans only need to win seven outstanding seats to get control of the House.

With Democrat Mark Kelly being the projected winner of the Senate race in Arizona, the spotlight is now on Nevada for who will win the seat in the Silver State.

ABC News projections show a dead heat for power in the Senate, with Democrats and Republicans winning 49 seats each. If Democrats win Nevada, they will keep their narrow majority in the chamber. If Republicans win, majority control of the Senate will come down to the Georgia runoff in December.

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto is locked in a tight reelection race against Republican Adam Laxalt. Currently, with 92% of the expected vote reported, Laxalt leads Cortez Masto by one point, 49-48%.
