Trump continues to try to blame Biden for GDP decline at start of his 2nd term
President Donald Trump, convening his Cabinet at the White House, again sought to blame former President Joe Biden for the Commerce Department's report showing the U.S. economy contracting in the first quarter of 2025.
"You probably saw some numbers today. And I have to start off by saying that's Biden, that's not Trump," the president said.

U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP, declined at a 0.3% annualized rate over three months ending in March. The figure marked a notable dropoff from 2.4% annualized growth over the final three months of 2024, when Biden was still in office.
