Bondi says Trump will 'probably' leave after second term

Changing the constitution would be a "heavy lift," the attorney general says.

Pam Bondi, President Donald Trump's attorney general said Sunday the president would "probably" leave the White House after his second term is completed.

But she left the door slightly open toward him serving another four years, telling "Fox News Sunday," "I think he's going to be finished probably after this term," and saying it would be a "heavy lift" to change the Constitution to allow Trump to serve another four years.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Saturday that he was revoking all visas to South Sudanese passport holders "due to the failure of South Sudan's transitional government to accept the return of its repatriated citizens in a timely manner."

'The FDA as we've known it is finished,' former agency chief says

Robert Califf, who served two stints as commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, said in a LinkedIn post Tuesday that the agency "as we’ve known it is finished," citing the mass layoffs.

"The FDA as we’ve known it is finished, with most of the leaders with institutional knowledge and a deep understanding of product development and safety no longer employed," said Califf, who led the agency from 2016-17 and from 2022-25.

"I believe that history will see this [as] a huge mistake. I will be glad if I’m proven wrong, but even then there is no good reason to treat people this way. It will be interesting to hear from the new leadership how they plan to put ‘Humpty Dumpty’ back together again," he added.

Trump to sign executive orders, Leavitt to hold briefing

President Donald Trump is scheduled to sign more executive orders at 3:30 p.m. ET.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will hold a noon ET briefing, where she's expected to be peppered with on the next batch of tariffs to be unveiled on Wednesday -- a day the administration is calling "Liberation Day." So far, the administration has released few details about what is to come.

Layoffs begin at HHS, including at the FDA and CDC

ABC News can confirm that layoffs have begun at the Department of Health and Human Services, including at the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Up to 10,000 people are expected to lose their jobs in this round of layoffs, an amount that could significantly alter the department's roles and abilities. That's in addition to the nearly 10,000 who have already left the agency in the last few months through buyout offers or early retirements.

At least some employees being laid off were told they were being immediately placed on administrative leave and losing access to their office starting today, April 1.
