Trump admin updates: EU will buy $750 billion worth of U.S. energy under deal

The deal would impose a 15% tariff on most goods.

President Donald Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Sunday the U.S. and the EU had reached a deal that would impose a 15% tariff on most goods.

Under the deal, the EU will purchase $750 billion worth of energy from the U.S. and invest $600 billion more than it's already is.

Meanwhile, Trump's health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., plans to oust all 16 members of a task force that recommends which preventive health services, such as cancer screenings, must be covered by insurance.

Johnson on Ukraine-Russia war: 'We need peace over there'

House Speaker Mike Johnson said the House and the Senate have agreed to allow President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth time regarding the war in Ukraine.

But Johnson emphasized that “we need peace over there.”

“We don’t want further American involvement, but I trust the commander-in-chief,” Johnson said.

Last week, Trump gave Russia “50 days” to make peace with Ukraine.

"Well, at the end of 50 days, if we don't have a deal, it's going to be too bad," Trump told reporters at the White House last week.

Johnson responds to Massie's criticism, 'Bless his heart'

House Speaker Mike Johnson was asked about Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie's criticism against him and the administration over the Epstein files.

A visibly frustrated Johnson responded that, "Some people I've tried to protect them from themselves.

"Bless his heart," Johnson said sarcastically about Massie.

Johnson calls for transparency in Epstein files but protection for victims

House Speaker Mike Johnson brought up the Epstein files during a GOP House news conference Tuesday and reiterated his calls to release the files.

He, however, said there needs to be protection for the victims.

"There are innocent victims of those sex crimes," Johnson told reporters.

Johnson also slammed Democrats for calling out the administration for not being transparent in the Epstein case.

"What we refuse to do is participate in the Democrats' political games," he said.

Johnson did not mention the numerous Republican congress members and conservate voices who have also called out the Trump administration for not releasing more information into the probe.

Bessent says there's no reason for Fed chair to resign

While there are mixed signals about whether President Donald Trump plans to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has come to his defense in a new interview with Fox Business on Tuesday.

Bessent expressed his support for Powell amid ongoing criticism from Trump administration officials, stating that he sees no reason for the Federal Reserve chair to resign.

"There's nothing that tells me that he should step down right now. He's been a good public servant. His term ends in May. If he wants to see that through, I think he should," Bessent said.

"If he wants to leave early, I think he should, but I think there's a real chance here for him, for his legacy to be that he right-sized -- the non-monetary policy functions of the Fed," he added.
