Putin and Modi meet at SCO summit in China
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in China, where President Xi Jinping hosted leaders for a security forum.
Modi posted a photo of he and Putin traveling together in a car to their bilateral meeting, writing that conversations with him "are always insightful." Modi and Putin were also photographed walking hand in hand at the SCO summit.
"Had an excellent meeting with President Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin. Discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in all sectors, including trade, fertilisers, space, security and culture," Modi wrote in another post. "We exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership remains a vital pillar of regional and global stability."

Their meeting comes after President Trump increased tariffs on India last month as punishment for purchasing Russian oil throughout the Russia-Ukraine war. In a social media post on Monday, Trump continued to criticize India's trade relationship with the U.S. and its imports of Russian oil.
"They have now offered to cut their Tariffs to nothing, but it’s getting late. They should have done so years ago. Just some simple facts for people to ponder!!!" Trump wrote in his post.
