President Donald Trump is among those who will speak Sunday at the memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Cook, who was assassinated last week.

On his way out of the White House Sunday morning, Trump defended Attorney General Pam Bondi for doing a "great job" after appearing to criticize her the day before over the lack of prosecutions against his political opponents.

On Friday, Trump spoke with Chinese President Xi about a variety of topics, including trade and the TikTok deal.

Trump says he’ll meet with Turkish president at White House next week

Trump said in a social media post Friday he will meet with Turkish President Erdoğan at the White House on Thursday, Sept. 25, as they work on trade deals, including for Boeing aircraft and military jets.

Trump said he’s “always had a very good relationship” with Erdoğan.

This announcement comes just a few days after Trump conditioned his threat of secondary sanctions on Russia on NATO allies agreeing to forgo purchasing Russian oil. Turkey is one of the largest importers of Russian oil.

Trump and Xi begin phone call, with TikTok on the agenda

President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have begun their phone call, a White House official told ABC News, during which TikTok is expected to be at the top of the agenda.

Trump said he would be speaking to Xi to firm up details on a deal for TikTok, after earlier this week extending the deadline until Dec. 16 for Beijing-based ByteDance to divest from TikTok or face a ban in the United States.

Trump says political hatred started with Obama

During an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum recorded earlier Thursday at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's country house Chequers, Trump said it’s “ideally” the role of a president to bring people together.

“Ideally,” Trump said. “I get this question so much.”

Trump said there was “tremendous” amounts of hatred across the country, which he thought started during former President Barack Obama’s term.

“When you see the kind of hatred out there, it is unbelievable. It has probably always been there and we don't realize it but I saw it starting with President Obama. I saw tremendous hatred but I saw levels that we've never seen before and with Biden, it got far worse,” he said.

Trump said that after the COVID pandemic further isolated people, his policies that brought “economic success” have brought people together.

“I would say that success brought people together. And I think the only thing that will bring them is economic success," Trump said.
