Texas 2026 live midterm results: Democrats projected to win Senate and governor's races

Democrat James Talarico will defeat state Attorney General Ken Paxton and state Rep. Gina Hinojosa will unseat Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, ABC News projects.

Hinojosa will make history as Texas' first Hispanic governor and the first Democratic governor elected since 1990. Abbott had won his previous three elections by double digits.

Republicans saw the Senate race as must-win and pumped millions of dollars into the race. The race is the most expensive non-presidential race on record, according to AdImpact.
