BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Jabez Woods returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and later added a 35-yard touchdown catch as Montana State downed Butler 51-24 on Saturday night.

The Bobcats, the top-ranked team in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, scored 27 unanswered points after Butler tied the game at 3 late in the first quarter.

Woods broke the tie with his kickoff return with 11 seconds remaining in the quarter. Adam Jones added a 1-yard touchdown run before Justin Lamson scored from a yard out and connected with Dane Steel for a 29-yard touchdown to give Montana State a 30-3 halftime lead.

Lamson completed 15 of 20 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. He found Taco Dowler for a 20-yard score early in the third quarter.

Dowler finished with five catches for 97 yards, while Jones rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown. Montana State totaled 498 yards, including 332 through the air.

Patrick Duchien threw a 35-yard touchdown to Woods in the fourth quarter.

Gabe Passini threw for 140 yards and a touchdown for Butler. Desmin Jackson and Jarrin Alley each added a rushing score.

Montana State: At Nevada next Saturday.

Butler: Hosts NCAA Division III Franklin on Saturday. ___
