June 25 -- What will be hot at tech trade show PCExpo in New York, Kodak's MP3 player, and making Web sites acccessible to those with physical disabilities. It's all in this week's Cybershake.
What to Expect at PCExpo
PCExpo hits New York City this week, but don’t expect to see a lot of PCs. “Traditionally, PC Expo was always a very big hardware show, especially PCs,” says Steve Fox, editor-in-chief of Cnet.com. “But this is not where the real excitement is happening.” Fox believes that this year’s trade show will focus on the smaller and lighter side of mobile computing.
“Smaller is going to make more of a splash than the larger items this year,” says Fox. Much like last year's show, Fox expects personal digital assistants such as Palm Pilots and Visor Handsprings will dominate the news and events. “I think we’ll see plenty of handhelds and wireless devices,” he says.
But PCs won’t be entirely displaced at the trade show, now dubbed TechXNY. With the expected release of Microsoft’s new Windows XP operating system in October, “You’ll see a huge splash from Microsoft,” says Fox. “A lot of makers will be showing products that will be ready for XP as well as computer systems that will be capable running XP.”

The Swiss Army Knife of Multimedia
It’s blue and silver, can fit in a belt holster and make homemade music videos. What’s more, it’s a digital gizmo that comes from a company better known for old-fashioned print photography.
“MC3 is the first product of its kind,” says Nancy Carr of Eastman Kodak, makers of the product. “It combines all the fun of an MP3 player, a digital video camera and a digital still camera.” The result: A product that Carr says will let the creative side of owners come out.
“Maybe they like listening to music all the time,” says Carr. “But they also want to start expressing themselves.” The MC3 can capture digital still photos or digital video on to its compact flash memory card. The device will also come with software that allows digital artists to share their creations over the Web with family and friends.
