Woman's Alleged Lover Named in Husband's Slaying
May 26, 2005 -- -- Police are investigating the alleged lover of a Pennsylvania woman in the highway robbery and killing of her husband.
On the evening of May 16, Dr. Gulam Moonda, 65, of Hermitage, Pa., was driving with his wife, Donna, 46, and her mother along the Ohio Turnpike when he pulled to the side of the road to change drivers, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A car pulled up behind the Moondas' 2000 Jaguar, and a man got out and demanded money. Moonda complied, but the suspect shot him and fled.
Police have named Damian R. Bradford, 23, of Monaca, Pa., as a person of interest in the murder investigation, and seized several items from his apartment. Bradford is currently being held in the Beaver County Jail on misdemeanor drug-related charges and a parole violation.
Bradford's mother, Sharon Bradford, told ABC News affiliate WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh that her son has been romantically involved with Donna Moonda for "some time."
In an affidavit of probable cause for the search of Bradford's apartment, police said they were looking for evidence of a sexual or financial relationship between Donna Moonda and Bradford.
The affidavit also cited a confidential source who claims Donna Moonda rented an apartment for someone named Damian and wanted a lucrative divorce from her husband, a urologist at Sharon Regional Health System in Sharon, Pa.
Police seized three towels with "suspected bio stain" and a bank payment book with Donna Moonda's maiden name, according to search warrant inventories.
Neither Donna Moonda nor Bradford has been charged with the crime.
Bradford's hearing on misdemeanor charges has been postponed by the district attorney's office until June 17, according to his attorney, Jim Ecker.
Donna Moonda has been unavailable for comment, but has retained Cleveland defense attorney Niki Schwartz. Schwartz was in meetings and unavailable for comment, according to his office.
