Mamdani will work during transition to win over New Yorkers who did not vote for him: Source
As Zohran Mamdani turns from campaigning to governing, a source close to the mayor-elect told ABC News he is intent on reaching out to New Yorkers who did not vote for him and send a strong signal that he plans to be a mayor for all New Yorkers.
That will be a focus of his transition in the coming days and weeks in meetings with civic, political and business leaders, the source said.
He also plans to send a signal to New Yorkers who have concerns about his relative youth and lack of experience with the appointments to his administration, the source told ABC News.
As for the national stage, Mamdani's focus will be on pushing back on Trump's efforts to impose his will on the city, according to the source.
But, the source said, he also recognizes that his victory could offer Democrats a blueprint to win back a "multi-racial and working class" coalition across the country.
