3 students stabbed at Texas high school, suspect in custody: Authorities
The victims are in stable condition, authorities said.
Three students were injured in a stabbing at a Texas high school on Friday, authorities said.
A suspect is in custody in connection with the incident at Americas High School in El Paso, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
The victims were transported to local hospitals with stab wounds and are all in stable condition, authorities said. Their families have been notified, according to the Socorro Independent School District.
"All other students and staff are safe under the supervision of faculty and staff," the school district said in a statement.
District police took the suspect into custody, school officials said. Authorities have not released any information on the suspect.
The sheriff's office said it is investigating the incident with assistance from the Texas Rangers and Socorro Independent School District Police Department.
Texas State Sen. Cesar Blanco said his office is in "close contact" with local and state officials following the incident.
"I am deeply saddened by the senseless violence at Americas High School today," Blanco said in a statement. "I am praying for the students, families, faculty, and staff affected by this incident."
