3-year-old girl dies after getting head stuck in kitchen playset: Police
The child was pronounced dead days after the incident, police said.
A 3-year-old girl in Florida died days after she got her head stuck in a kitchen playset and became unresponsive, authorities said this week.
The incident occurred in Boynton Beach last month while the toddler and her sibling were at a babysitter's house, according to police.
The girl and her sibling were in the care of the babysitter's spouse at the time, after the babysitter had left the residence, police said, citing preliminary information.
"During this time, the spouse remained upstairs as the children played downstairs, periodically checking on the children and giving them snacks," the Boynton Beach Police Department said in a statement.
The spouse went down to check on the children and found the 3-year-old girl with her head stuck in a kitchen playset, police said.

"The toddler's sibling advised that the child's toys had fallen into the kitchen play set when they attempted to retrieve the toys and became stuck," police said.
The child was not breathing, police said. The spouse removed the child and began performing life-saving measures until first responders arrived shortly after 11 a.m., police said.
The child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, police said. She was pronounced dead on July 27, the police department said in an update on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time, a police department spokesperson told ABC News on Tuesday.
Authorities did not say how long the child is believed to have been stuck. The name of the toddler and her cause and manner of death also have not been released.
The wooden kitchen playset had been purchased off Facebook Marketplace a few years ago, according to the police spokesperson, who said they do not have the make or model at this time.
