Fleiss Receives Home Detention Sentence
April 9, 2001 -- Heidi Fleiss was sentenced to six months of home detention and ordered to get drug counseling and treatment after being arrested on parole violation charges March 29.
The former Hollywood Madam admitted to using drugs (methamphetamine and prescription pills) and failing to show up for mandatory drug tests last month. Authorities said federal marshals arrested Fleiss, 35, when she was on her way to meet with her probation officer.
"I hope you don't see me in this courtroom again," Fleiss told U.S. District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall at her hearing today.
Fleiss was expected to be released from custody today.
During home detention, Fleiss will only be allowed to go to work and her counseling appointments. Her attorney declined to say where the former call-girl ringleader is currently employed.
The six-month sentence could be dropped if Fleiss follows the judge's orders. Prior to the six-month extension, she had just 18 months left to serve for her money laundering, conspiracy, and tax evasion charges.
In 1995, Fleiss was also charged with probation violation after using methamphetamines. She was arrested in 1993 following a sting arrest that found her running an elite prostitution ring based in Hollywood, Calif.
