Stone's Unwanted Visitor Restrained
March 29, 2001 -- Sharon Stone has spent the last several months looking for a leading man for Basic Instinct 2, but last week, she got an unwanted auditioner.
A man who showed up at Stone's Los Angeles residence demanded that one of her employees allow him to see the star and said he "had come all the way from Italy to marry her," according to court documents released Wednesday.
Agostino P'Omato, 32, said he was in love with Stone and refused to leave the premises. While he was there, the 43-year-old actress came home and walked into her pool house. P'Omato allegedly tried to follow her but was stopped by Stone's driver and a gardener, court papers said. Police were called to the scene.
P'Omato is now under evaluation in a Los Angeles area mental institution. He has been served with a temporary restraining order mandating that he stay at least 100 yards away from Stone, her family, and their two homes in L.A. and San Francisco.
Stone has reportedly asked for a permanent restraining order. Court papers stated that the incident "frightened Ms. Stone and her employee" and said that P'Omato had intent "to harass and annoy [Stone]."
