Jeri Ryan Stalker Faces Trial

January 19, 2001 -- Even cyborgs have stalkers, and a man accused of stalking Star Trek: Voyager star Jeri Ryan must now face a judge and jury.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ordered Marlon Pagtakhan, 22, to stand trial on five counts, among them stalking and extortion, The Associated Press reports. Judge Alan Ellis ruled Wednesday that there was sufficient evidence that Pagtakhan had threatened the actress and her family.

Ryan — who spawned a cult following with her sexy Seven of Nine character on the sci-fi series — recently told Mr. Showbiz that she finds it "a bit strange to consider how many people there are who are willing to spend hours and hours of their free time designing a Web site for someone they don't know."

Ryan filed a criminal complaint against Pagtakhan Nov. 13. The alleged stalker was arrested Nov. 16 and has been jailed in lieu of $405,000 bail, the AP noted.

Pagtakhan will be arraigned Jan. 31.
