'Chad Powers' star returns to 'GMA' 20 years after working there
Everett ran the green room at "GMA."
A former "Good Morning America" employee returned to the studio, this time, for a spot in front of the camera.
Wynn Everett, who stars in the hit comedy show "Chad Powers," joined "GMA" on Thursday to discuss the show's new season and her long tenure at "Good Morning America" as a green room coordinator.
"Wynn is a little emotional because, Wynn, before she was an actress starring in a huge show, worked right here at 'Good Morning America,'" Lara Spencer, co-anchor of "GMA," said.
"I remember you, your cute southern accent. I thought you wanted to get into news. I didn't know that you had this dream of becoming an actress," Spencer said, adding that the two women overlapped while she was a network correspondent.
Everett said she worked with "every guest" and welcomed them into the green room before their segment.
"I mean, this was my family," Everett said, before she looked at a photo of her, Robin Roberts and Diane Sawyer. "This was my last day of work in 2006 that Robin and Diane sent me off the air. This was my family for six years."
When Robin Roberts asked, over a video, how being with "GMA" prepared her for acting, Everett said: "This place prepared me more than I can ever explain."
She said her time with "GMA" allowed her to be "calm and comfortable and able to go on to any set."
Everett plays Tricia Yeager in "Chad Powers," which focuses on Russ Holiday, played by Glenn Powell, a disgraced college quarterback who disguises himself as Chad Powers to join a struggling college football team and revive his football career.
Yaeger is the head of the booster organization for the fictional South Georgia Catfish football team.
"My mother is a strong southern woman. You know, Trisha is a little bit tough," Everett said of her role.
She continued, "If we get a season three ... I want that national championship."
All episodes of "Chad Powers" season 2 are now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
