New 'Cheetah Girls' movie confirmed with Raven-Symoné

Symoné is also set to executive produce.

"Cheetah Girls" is making a comeback with Raven-Symoné attached.

The Disney classic franchise, which spawned from the 2003 TV film classic, is confirmed to be working on a new chapter -- a "music-driven film" for Disney Channel and Disney+, according to a press release on Wednesday.

Along with a new cast of actresses, "Cheetah Girls: Next Gen" is confirmed to star Raven-Symoné returning to her iconic role as Galleria and Adrienne Bailon returning as Chanel.

According to the release, Lynn Whitfield is set to return as Dorothea and Lori Alther is set to return as Juanita and, Sabrina Bryan will return in a "special appearance" in her role of Dorinda. Sophia Bush will play Jennifré.

The project is set to start production this month in South Africa, according to Disney.

The new actresses on board for the latest "Cheetah Girls" chapter include Leah Sava’ Jeffries, who will play Galleria's daughter, Faith and Carmen Sanchez will play Chanel's sister, Dior.

Kaileen Chang will play Ruby while Sophie Lennon plays Brooklyn.

Kamogelo Ramashala, who the release notes was found during Disney’s global open casting call, will play Kendi.

"The story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Symoné) and Chanel (Bailon), alongside Galleria's daughter Faith (Jeffries) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary," reads a synopsis of the project.

"Along the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice, and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls," the synopsis continued.

Raven-Symoné will executive produce the project alongside Debra Martin Chase, who executive produced the first three projects.

Bille Woodruff is slated to direct and co-produce the project.

Raven-Symoné took to social media to celebrate the announcement of the new project with a video of her with text on screen reading, "POV: strutting to the set of The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen."

"It’s happening, and it’s CHEETAHLISHIOUS!" she captioned the post, which featured the song "Strut" from "The Cheetah Girls 2"

The original "The Cheetah Girls" starring Raven-Symoné and Bailon has been met with massive popularity and fanfare through the years, and spawned two sequels, "The Cheetah Girls 2," which was released in 2006, and "The Cheetah Girls: One World," in 2008, which Raven-Symoné did not star in.
