Kate Gosselin responds to support on social media amid release of son Collin Gosselin's memoir
Collin Gosselin released his memoir on Oct. 13.
Kate Gosselin appears to be weighing in after the release of her son Collin Gosselin's memoir.
Collin Gosselin's memoir, "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood," released Tuesday, contains several abuse allegations against his mother and allegations of childhood trauma.
In the comments section of a TikTok video she shared Saturday about her pet dog, Kate Gosselin responded to comments of support that seemingly referred to allegations in Collin Gosselin's memoir.
One person, who appeared to be in support of the reality star, said, "I know you already know this, but you have the support of so many. Most importantly your seven precious children. ...I just wanted to say you are doing a great job keeping your head up through all of this! We love you!♥️"
Kate Gosselin replied, "Thank you so much. I know rational logical ppl or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what's going on here :)."
In response to someone who told her to "Stay strong," she replied, "I am! 😘"
ABC News has reached out to a representative for Kate Gosselin for comment.
Ahead of the release of his memoir, Collin Gosselin spoke with ABC News and alleged that his mother began isolating him from his father and making him sleep in a locked room in their basement after her divorce from Jon Gosselin in 2009.
Kate and Jon Gosselin rose to fame on TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8," which documented their journey raising twins Madelyn and Cara, and sextuplets Leah, Hannah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin.
Collin Gosselin told ABC News that after his parents' divorce, his mother, who was granted primary custody of him and his siblings, had him removed from their home days before his 12th birthday and placed in an institution where he was given medication and had almost no contact from his family.
The former reality star said that two years after being sent to the institution -- after his dad went through the court system to get him released -- he moved in with his dad and his sister Hannah, who had decided to leave Kate Gosselin's care.
In his book, Collin Gosselin writes that in 2023, after years of his mother claiming he suffered from various mental and behavioral challenges, he underwent an independent psychological evaluation, which did not reveal any mental health diagnoses at that time.
Today, Collin Gosselin is in college and is studying finance. When asked if he would be open to reconnecting with his six other siblings -- Maddie, Cara, Alexis, Aaden, Leah and Joel -- he told ABC News that he "would love to" but understands that his relationship with them will never be the same.
In a message to his siblings, he said, "No matter what's happened or what was said, no matter how things look from the outside, I love you, I always have and always will."
Neither Kate Gosselin nor TLC has responded to ABC News' request for comment regarding the interview.
