'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' tops box office for 6th straight weekend
The superhero film helped propel Hollywood toward a record-breaking summer.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is continuing its blockbuster run at the box office.
The latest "Spider-Man" film, starring Tom Holland, remained No. 1 at the domestic box office for the sixth consecutive weekend, bringing in an estimated $18 million from Friday through Sunday.
Sony projects the film will earn $23.3 million over the four-day Labor Day weekend.
The six-week run at No. 1 makes "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" just the second film this decade to achieve the feat, following 2022's "Avatar: The Way of Water."
The film has now grossed $2.4 billion worldwide, according to Sony.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which premiered in theaters on July 31, is the 38th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film stars real-life couple Holland and Zendaya, who play MJ and Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film, respectively.
Holland has portrayed Spider-Man/Peter Parker since "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016 and most recently starred as the web-slinger in 2021's"Spider-Man: No Way Home."
The success of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," along with other summer blockbusters including Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," also starring Holland and Zendaya, has also helped Hollywood close out its strongest summer movie season since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through Aug. 31, the domestic box office totaled $4.6 billion for the summer, a 26.1% increase from 2025, according to Rentrak data reported by The Associated Press.
