World Cup kicks off at McDonald's: New menu items, player-inspired collectible cups and more
There will be Squishmallows in tournament kits with each Happy Meal.
To help kick off the 2026 FIFA World Cup festivities, McDonald's is launching a new menu of meals complete with soccer legend-inspired collectibles.
The Golden Arches tapped a few of the greatest footballers in the world for its new World Cup campaign including Christian Pulisic, Thierry Henry, David Beckham, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Lamine Yamal, Son Heung-Min, Alphonso Davies and Santiago Giménez.
Starting June 4, the soccer stars -- plus McDonald's own legend, Grimace -- will be featured on nine new collectible cups that will be served as part of the new FIFA World Cup 26 Meal.
Customers can choose from a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets served with fries, a drink and a limited edition gold packaged Big Mac Sauce.
Henry, who helped lead France to a World Cup victory in 1998, said during a press call ahead of the new menu drop that his go-to McDonald's order is a Big Mac.
Plus, in some markets starting June 9, McDonald's will offer a new Happy Meal to bring match-day fun to younger fans, each served with one of 23 festive Squishmallows plushies that are kitted out in tournament-inspired jerseys.
The toys include the official mascots for FIFA World Cup 26 and represent the three host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the U.S.
The specialty Happy Meal packaging will have a scannable code to unlock an exclusive digital game online.
Additionally, a new Golden McFlurry made with vanilla soft serve, swirled with caramel sauce and a toasted coconut topping will be available in some markets.
The packaging for longtime menu items like french fries has also been reimagined to resemble the World Cup trophy itself.
McDonald's said prices in the U.S. are determined at the individual restaurant level and may vary by market.
